Emergency Management
Emergency management is the organized analysis, planning, decision-making, and assignment of available resources to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of all hazards.
The goal of emergency management is to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect property and the environment if an emergency occurs. (FEMA, 2015)
The West Virginia Primary Care Association works with many local, state, and national partners to assist Community Health Centers in emergency preparedness planning and response. The WVPCA also provides information to partners about the role of Health Centers in their community at all times and the potential role of Health Centers in the event of an emergency.
The WVPCA has contracted with an emergency management services company, Bold Planning, to create a web-based emergency management system that will provide West Virginia's Community Health Centers with a full package of subject matter expertise, software tools, and proven project management tools to ensure the development of a strong internal response team and detailed, compliant planning elements.
This program is offered to all community health centers with funding from the Center for Threat Preparedness.
